EMILY
FLEISCHMAN OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior
outfielder from Bellevue, Wash., has been selected the SCAC
Softball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for games played through
Sunday, February 8th.
Fleischman led the Trinity softball team to a
doubleheader split against Hardin-Simmons in the season-opening
weekend of the 2015 season.
Fleischman went 5-6 (.833) at the plate during the three games, driving in two runs and scoring another. She drove a triple into the left-center gap in her first at-bat of the season, coming home to score and tie the game early against the Cowgirls. Fleischman went 3-3 with two RBI in game two of the doubleheader, leading the Tigers to a 6-2 win.
Last season, Fleischman was second on the team with a .374 batting average, picking up 52 hits in 139 at-bats. She scored a team-best 37 runs, and drove in six RBI.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior shortstop
Erin Begle of Dallas batted .533 over four games for
Dallas, who opened the spring campaign with a 1-3 weekend. In UD's
lone victory, Begle slashed a .750/.800/1.000 with three hits, one
double and a pair of RBI. Begle would record two base knocks in
each of the squad's home affairs Sunday with Texas-Dallas. Junior shortstop Michele Ramos
of Southwestern went 2-3 on opening weekend against Our
Lady of the Lake with 2RBIs, a 2-run homerun and scored three
times. Posted a .800 on base percentage with two walks. Junior catcher/designated
player Jennifer Gallagher of Texas Lutheran hit
.500 over the Bulldogs' 1-3 weekend. She went 3-for-3 with three
RBI in the second-game loss to Louisiana College. She added a
1-for-2 performance with a run scored and an RBI in the game-two
loss to UT Tyler. Austin College, Centenary,
and Schreiner did not
play.
