Sydney Oorlog, Southwestern University, Softball - Offensive Player of the Week (Week 6)

SYDNEY OORLOG OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a freshman outfielder from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Softball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for games played through Sunday, March 15th.

Oorlog was terrific this past weekend, playing a huge role in Southwestern's 5-1 weekend including a 4-0 record to begind SCAC play. 

Oorlog went 11-for-18 (.611) with two triples and nine RBIs over the weekend to go with six runs scored and four stolen bases. In conference play against Schreiner, Oorlog went 8-for-12 with two triples and seven RBIs including four runs scored and three stolen bases.

In an 18-6 win over the Mountaineers, Oorlong went 3-for-4 with two triples, two RBIs, and two runs scored. She would finish with at least one hit in every game and multiple hits in four of the six games. She also had at least one RBI is each game including multi RBI games in three of the six matchups. 

For the season, Oorlong leads the conferene in triples with three and is ninth in the conference with a .391 batting average. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior catcher Taylor Garcia of Dallas batted .400 with a team-high, 10 hits over a busy stretch of games for Dallas. She collected base hits throughout the week, but her biggest performance came in the finale of a four-game SCAC series with Centenary College. Garcia went three-of-four and drove in a career-high, five Lady Crusaders, to help secure the series in a 10-1 decision. She hammered a two-run homer, her second of the year, in the first inning and crossed the plate twice herself in the route. Junior catcher/designated player Jennifer Gallagher of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs to a four-game conference sweep of Austin College last week. Gallagher drove in nine runs and hit .615 over the four games. She posted an on-base percentage of .643 and a slugging percentage of .923. She drove in four runs on three hits, including a double, in the series-opening win. In the series finale, she went 4-for-4 with three doubles and five RBI. Austin College, Centenary, Schreiner, and Trinity did not nomiante.
