BLAKE KELLEY OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a junior forward from El Paso, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, February 12th.

Kelley helped lead the Mountaineers to a pair of wins last week, which clinched at least a share of the conference regular season title. This is the first time since joining the league that the Mountaineers have done so in men's basketball.

Kelley averaged 19.0 points per game while shooting 64.7% from the field. He also make 4-of-7 shots from distance and went 12-of-14 from the free throw line.

Kelley also pulled down 9.0 rebounds per game, including a 15 board performance in Sunday's win over Austin College. In this game, he also dished out two assists and recorded one blocked shot.

The Mountaineers have two games remaining on their regular season schedule as they face off against Trinity University twice in three days. If Schreiner wins either of these games, they will claim sole posession of the regular season championship and will earn the No. 1 seed for the SCAC tournament.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior guard Travion Kirkendoll of Centenary College averaged 29 points in two games this week to lead Centenary to a 1-1 record and clinch a spot in the conference tournament. Senior center Tom Kaiser of the University of Dallas averaged 17.5 points and shot 13-of-14 from the field in two games last week for the Crusaders. Freshman guard Joel Martinez of Southwestern University came off the bench to average 14.0 points in just 14 minutes per game. Senior forward Zach Behr of Texas Lutheran University tied his career high for points with 32 in an 89-83 loss to Colorado College. Junior guard Matt Jones of Trinity University led the Tigers to weekend split, averaging 16.5 points, 8.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds.
