Matt Jones, Trinity University, Player of the Week (Week Five)

MATT JONES OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior guard from Austin, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, December 18th. 

Jones led Trinity to a 2-0 record during the Leslie Robinson Memorial Classic, defeating Berry College and George Fox University.

Jones was named the Tournament MVP for his balanced performance, averaging 14.5 points, 6.0 assists, 4.0 steals, and 2.5 rebounds per contest. He shot 23-27 (85.2%) from the foul line for the two games.

In the win over Berry, Jones was 16-16 from the foul line, which marks the second-most free throws made in a game without missing in SCAC history. He finished with 20 points and four assists, as well as nabbing six steals.

In Sunday's win over George Fox, Jones had nine points and eight assists to give the Tigers their second consecutive win.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman forward Cedric Harris of Centenary College had a big game against Millsaps College, recording a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds in the Gents' only game. Senior guard Brian Baehl of Austin College had a strong week as the 'Roos went 1-1, averaging 13.5 point, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Junior forward Ryan Ogden of Southwestern University averaged 20.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and two steals per game over the weekend as the Pirates went 1-1.
