A.J. PULLIAM OF TRINITY
UNIVERSITY, a sophomore forward from
Bryan, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Basketball
Player-of-the-Week for games played through Sunday, December
7th.
Pulliam led Trinity in its three games last week,
which included two narrow losses against No. 9 Emory and No. 4
Washington-St. Louis over the weekend.
Pulliam averaged 20.3 points/game and 4.3 rebounds/game over the past week, as well as contributing six blocks, four steals, and four assists. He shot 63.3% from the field for the week, including 5-9 (55.6%) from three-point range. Pulliam also knocked in 18-22 (81.8%) from the free throw line in the three games.
Against Emory and Washington, Pulliam scored better than 20 points in each game – including a team season-best 23 points against Emory on Friday night. He hit 8-14 from the field and 3-4 three-pointers in the nine-point loss.
Against Washington, he knocked in 8-12 shots for 22 points, as well as recording four blocked shots as the Tigers were edged 77-79.
For the season, Pulliam tops the Trinity team with his 14.7 points/game, and he is second with 3.9 rebounds/game in seven contests. He is also leading the Tigers with six blocks on the year, and has hit 50% (33-66) of his overall shots. Pulliam is third in three-pointers made, connecting on 9-22 (40.9%), and leads the Tigers in shooting 75.7% (28-37) from the free throw line.

Sophomore guard
Brian Baehl of Austin College had one of the best
offensive days of his career as the 'Roos hosted Hendrix, scoring
22 points while grabbing five rebounds, and also added two assists,
a steal, and only had one turnover. Sophomore forward James Sapp of
Centenary averaged a team best 17.5 pts/gm and 7.5/gm
to lead the Gents to a 1-1 weekend including a 93-63 thrashing of
Hendrix. Senior guard
Blaine Blackburn of Dallas broke double figures in both
contests this week, as Dallas split its games and ended a
seven-game winning streak on Saturday, it's second-best start in
program history. The senior guard averaged 11.5 points-per-game,
ranking second with 13 points on the team in the home-opening win
versus Southwestern Adventist. Senior guard Stevan Guerrero of
Schreiner led the Mountaineers back from 19 points down
vs. UT Tyler with 19 points, eight rebounds, and two assists. Sophomore forward Zach Whitlock
of Southwestern led the Pirates in both points (16) and
rebounds (8) as Southwestern was narrowly edged out by Mary
Hardin-Baylor on Monday night. Sophomore guard Jordan Kouremetis of
Texas Lutheran led TLU to a 1-1 week, with an 80-66
home win over McMurry and an 80-73 homes loss to East Texas
Baptist. Kouremetis averaged 15.5 points per game and shot 46.2
percent from the three-point line. Colorado College was idle
this past weekend.
