TRAVION
KIRKENDOLL OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a freshman
guard from Campti, La., has been selected the SCAC Men’s
Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played through Sunday,
November 30th.
Kirkendoll led Centenary this past weekend to
a 1-1 record including a victory over Rhodes College on the Lynx's
home floor. He averaged 19.0 points/game on 54.5% shooting from the
field, 60% from the three point line, and 84.6% from the free throw
line to go with 3.0 steals/game.
Kirkendoll scored 18 points on 5-of-8 shooting including 2-of-3 from behind the arch and 6-of-8 from the free throw line in the win over Rhodes. he added three assists and three steals.
He followed that up with 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting against the No. 8 team in the nation, Illinois Wesleyan. He added four rebounds and three steals in the contest. Kirkendoll only committed one turnover throughout the weekend.
Kirkendoll raised his average to 9.6 points/game, currently in the Top 20 of the SCAC. He is sixth in the SCAC wtih seven total steals and in the top ten in the conference in free throw percentage.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore guard
Jeremy Swisher of Austin College averaged 10.3 points,
2.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game in three games last week,
with a high of 16 points coming in an early week game against
Bacone College. Sophomore
guard Michael Sarrat of Dallas scored 10 points in a
win over Linfield and followed that up with 21 points in a win over
Portland Bible as the Crusaders improved to 6-0 on the
season. Sophomore
forward Zach Whitlock of Southwestern had a career
night in Southwestern's win over Texas Lutheran Monday night. He
had 16 points and 15 rebounds, leading all players in both
categories and helping Coach Hightower earn his first career
win. Sophomore guard
Sterling Holmes of Texas Lutheran scored a TLU
career-best 21 points in the Bulldogs' 73-67 road win over
Millsaps, Friday in Jackson, Miss. Holmes shot 75 percent from the
field (6-of-8) and 75 percent from the three-point line (3-of-4).
Holmes also went 6-for-6 at the free throw line. Colorado College
and Schreiner did not
nomiante. Trinity was
idle.
