JEFF LONNECKER OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior pitcher from Bellaire, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played through Sunday, April 15th. 

Lonnecker made two relief appearances for the #1 Tiger baseball team, which sported a 5-1 overall record during a busy week. Lonnecker scattered seven hits over 9.1 shutout innings of action, recording 13 strikeouts against just one walk.

He came on in relief against Concordia on Tuesday, picking up eight strikeouts in just 3.2 innings of work to lead the Tigers to a 3-2 win.

Against Schreiner, he threw the final 5.2 innings of a 13-6 win to earn a save, allowing just three hits and picking up five more strikeouts. For the season, Lonnecker is 3-0 with two saves and an ERA of 1.63 over 27.2 innings of work.

Lonnecker is holding opponents to a .223 batting average and has bumped his season strikeout total to 42 on the year.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior pitcher Chase Almaguer of Austin College earned a complete game win over Southwestern last week, giving up just one earned run in seven innings, while striking out six batters. Senior infielder Cole Lavergne of Centenary College threw a complete game win against Texas Lutheran, allowing three runs in the first two innings but holding the Bulldogs scoreless the rest of the way, while striking out four batters. Junior pitcher Nathan Malinovsky of Texas Lutheran University put in seven innings of work in game two of the three-game conference series against Centenary College this week, striking out six.
