COLE LAVERGNE OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a senior infielder from Sulphur, La., has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played through Sunday, April 8th.
Lavergne had quite the weekend on the mound, appearing in all three games and picking up a win and save in the doubleheader against the Pirates on April 7, surrendering just a hit while striking out seven.
In the final game of the series, Lavergne threw a perfect three innings for his fifth save of the season. He also pitched out of a no-out, bases loaded jam in the ninth of game one.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior left-handed pitcher Tyler Polasek of Southwestern University threw five innings to earn the win over UT Tyler on Tuesday, allowing just two runs on three hits with five strikeouts. Senior pitcher Dylan Drgac of Texas Lutheran University produced eight strike outs and scattered just four hits as he picked up a complete game victory over Dallas on Saturday. Sophomore right-handed pitcher Mark Tindall of Trinity University got the week started on the right foot by pitching 6.0 innings in relief to earn the victory at Southwestern on Wednesday, allowing one run on five hits and striking out a week-best 10 batters in the game.
