MICHAEL BENTZ
OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior right-hander from
Houston, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Baseball
Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 11 through
Sunday, March 17.
Bentz picked up a win and a save in his only two
appearances last week, helping the Tigers to a 4-0 week of
action.
Bentz did not allow a run in 5.1 innings of work over two games pitched, yielding just one hit and striking out five batters. He picked up the victory against Texas Lutheran on Tuesday, giving up just one hit and punching out three batters over the final 2.1 innings to close out the team’s 8-6 win.
In the series finale against Dallas, Bentz
nailed down a 7-5 win for the Tigers by pitching the final three
innings and allowing just one base runner. He pitched three hitless
innings and struck out two batters, retiring eight consecutive
batters to finish off the game.
