RYAN LUCERO OF
TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior left-hander from
Aurora, Colo., has been selected the SCAC Baseball
Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, January 28
through Sunday, February 3.
Lucero picked up right where he left off last
season by leading the Tigers to victory in Thursday’s season
opener at Chapman University.
Lucero took a no-hitter into the eighth inning in the win, striking out 10 batters and allowing one unearned run on just one hit through 7.1 innings of work. He held Chapman to a .038 batting average in the game, walking just two batters to earn the victory.
Last season, Lucero led Trinity with an 8-0
overall record and an ERA of just 1.57 over 68.2 innings of work.
He recorded three complete games (two shutouts) in 10 starts,
striking out 74 batters and walking just 15.
Lucero also held opponents to a team-low .172
batting average in 2012.
