LEXI BEESON OF
AUSTIN COLLEGE has been selected the SCAC
Character & Community Female Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for
the week ending February 24, 2013.
Beeson, a junior guard and two year starter for
the Kangaroo women’s basketball team from Kenai, Alaska, has
been an extremely active member of the Austin College community
during her three years in Sherman.
In addition to being a member of the basketball team, she is a
Dean’s List student and member of the SCAC Academic Honor
Roll, and is a member of the Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity. As
a member of APO, Beeson has served on the
committee for ‘Roo Boo, an annual community event at
Halloween, and helps maintain the organization’s adopted
stretch of highway with regular trash pick ups.
Beeson also serves as the Vice President for
Marketing for the Campus Activities Board, and last year served as
the president of the Student Athlete Advisory Council. While
working with the SAAC, she helped to plan and organize an event in
which Austin College student-athletes volunteered with the Special
Olympics Regional Track Meet, and will be involved in the same
event this spring. She also serves as the historian for Alpha Phi
Omega, and is a junior class representative for the Student
Assembly.
Beeson has also volunteered as part of the Austin
College Great Day of Service at the Sherman Women’s Crisis
Center and is the athletic department’s Tim Calvert Intern
