LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Four SCAC women's teams were on the course this week with three of those competing at the Alamo City Classic on The Quarry Golf Course in San Antonio.
The 17th-ranked Trinity women's golf team shot a final-round 307, for a two-day 616 total (+48), to finish off the victory on Tuesday.
Trinity placed seven players in the top 11 positions, led by Hanna Niner's final-round score of 3-over-par 74. Niner stood in fifth place after Monday's round, and wrapped up the tournament with an 11-over 153 to finish in second-place among the 29 competitors.
Taylor Moser finished third, while Shelby DeVore and Emilee Strausburg tied for fourth place. Christine Campbell placed in a tie for seventh, Lauren Pettinati was 10th, and Elizabeth McGillivray finished in the No. 11 slot.
Trinity led second-place Hardin-Simmons University by 22 strokes.
Led by first-year Leilani McDaniel, Southwestern finished in third place with a two-day total of 654 (+86).
McDaniel finished tied for fourth overall with 157 strokes (80-77) and trailed event champion Hanna Niner of Trinity by only four strokes. Valentina Olivieri was close behind in ninth place, posting a score of 159 (80-79) to round out the Pirates in the top ten.
Texas Lutheran finished fifth as the Bulldogs followed up Monday's team score of 341 with a 350 on Tuesday to finish with a 691 (+123).
TLU freshman Summer Swift led the Bulldogs with a 12th-place finish. She posted rounds of 79 and 85.
Centenary College's women were in action at the "The Buc" and concluded its fall action in style, finishing as runner-up in the tournament hosted by Christian Brothers University at the par-72 Germantown Country Club.
Three Maroon and White golfers claimed top-10 finishes, including sophomore Jessica Varner finishing tied for second with a three-day total of +26 (242).
The Ladies as a team finished with a three-round total of 1055 (+191), 81 strokes behind NCAA Division II Lewis. Centenary finished 21 strokes clear of Wheaton, 67 strokes better than host Christian Brothers, and 83 strokes ahead of Illinois College.
