SAN ANTONIO, Texas - After finishing second in their first two years in the conference, the Texas Lutheran University men made the third time the charm as the Bulldogs won the 2017 SCAC Men's Track and Field Championship Saturday afternoon on the campus of Trinity. HOW IT HAPPENED
- After winning titles in the pole vault, triple jump, hammer and javelin on Friday, Texas Lutheran earned gold in four more individual events plus both relays.
- Texas Lutheran student-athletes set new SCAC records in three events: Bryce Johnson in the 100 meters (10.64) and Marquis Brown in both the 200 meters (21.32) and 400 meters (48.49). The 4x100 relay also set a new conference record with a finishing time of 41.24.
- Other winners for TLU included Garrett Garza in the shot put (48' 6 1/4") and the 4x400 relay team which finished in a time of 3:22.36.
- Cody Hall of Trinity was named the SCAC Track & Field Athlete of the Meet - Hall won the 110 meter hurdles (14.50, new SCAC record), 400 meter hurdles (54.14), long jump (23' 3 1/2") and finished fourth in the pole vault and fifth in both the triple jump and high jump.
- Trinity distance runners did very well. Michael Erickson won gold in both the 800 (1:58.34) and 1500 meters (4:03.82), Elliott Blake won the 5000 meters (15:50.56)
- Trinity's Matt Love took first in the discuss throw (158' 10")
- Colorado College earned the high jump (Henry Baldwin, 6' 7 1/2").
