OLIVIA SEVERSON OF UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a senior goalkeeper from La Crosse, Wis., has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, October 20th.
Severson worked her fourth shutout in a row, as the University of Dallas women’s soccer team won its fourth match in a row to stay unblemished in October and stretch its best start in SCAC play. Severson had two saves and anchored a UD defense that has not allowed a goal in 365:17 minutes. The senior goalkeeper has allowed eight goals on the season, which is second fewest in the league. Her 0.80 goals-against average ranks third. The Crusaders are one-of-two teams in the SCAC without a conference loss, and their winning streak now matches the most recent one back in 2014.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman defender Juliana Chapa of Southwestern anchored a defense that posted its eight shutout of the season on Sunday in a 2-0 win over Schreiner and she also chipped in offensively scoring the lone goal in a loss to Trinity. Freshman defender Nyah Shepherd of Trinity led the Tigers to a pair of SCAC wins on the road last weekend, defeating both Southwestern and Texas Lutheran to remain atop the conference standings. Shepherd assisted on both of Trinity's opening goals over the weekend, including Sunday's eventual game-winning goal against Texas Lutheran.
