ROMIE REYNA OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a junior defender from Fort Worth, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played the week of Monday, October 16th to Sunday, October 21th.
Reyna led the Pirates to a 3-0 shutout victory last week against Dallas. She anchored a defensive line that allowed just eight shots all game, including just one on target. The win marked the seventh shutout of the season for Southwestern and the sixth in SCAC action. Reyna also chipped in offensively scoring her third goal of the season on a direct kick from 27-yards out.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore defender Lilah Bevins of Trinity led the Tigers to a shutout victory over Schreiner last week. Bevins led the defense to its 13th shutout in 15 games this season, holding Schreiner to just six total shots in Friday night’s win.
