Katelyn Peters, Johnson & Wales University, Defensive Player of the Week (Week 6)

KATELYN PETERS OF JOHNSON & WALES UNIVERSITY, a junior goalkeeper from Brighton, Colo., has been selected the SCAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played the week of Monday, October 1st to Sunday, October 7th.

Peters led JWU to a pair of SCAC victories last week against Dallas and Austin College. Peters collected eight saves in the two wins and posted her fourth shutout of the season in the 1-0 win over Dallas. 
 
The honor for Peters marks the first-ever SCAC POTW honor for a JWU student-athlete.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC: 
Junior goalkeeper Olivia Severson of Dallas made seven saves in the Crusaders’ 2-1 victory over Austin College last week. She faced eight shots over 90 minutes of work. Junior goalie Mary Cardone of Southwestern collected 17 saves last week as the Pirates went 1-1 with the victory coming via a shutout against Centenary. Sophomore defender Lilah Bevins of Trinity led the women’s soccer team to a pair of road wins in SCAC play, defeating both Southwestern and Centenary last week. Bevins assisted on the second goal of the game in Tuesday’s win over Southwestern, which also marked Trinity’s eighth consecutive shutout victory and 10th overall shutout this season.
