PORTLAND, Ore. - The Tiger women's basketball team was beaten 78-49 in the first round of the NCAA Playoffs against eighth-ranked Lewis & Clark College on Friday night. Box Score

Trinity (23-5) had its 17-game winning streak snapped in the loss, which is the fourth consecutive defeat for the Tigers in the playoffs. The Tigers fell behind early and were never able to get back into the game, as Lewis & Clark came out on fire in front of their home crowd.

Lewis & Clark built a 14-4 lead after just 3:21 had elapsed in the game, and pushed that lead to 19 points (26-7) a few minutes later. The Pioneers led 47-23 at the half, as the Tigers shot just 33% from the field - missing all eight three-point attempts. Lewis & Clark shot better than 50% from the field in the game - including 16-31 (51.6%) in the first half.

Anecia Richardson led Trinity with 16 points in the game, and was the only Tiger player to score a field goal until the 1:24 mark of the opening half. Richardson finished the first half with 14 of the team's 23 points.  

Murphy Burns hit a pair of three-pointers in the second half, breaking the school's single season record for three-point field goals. She finished with nine points, three rebounds, and a pair of steals.

Caitlin Barrett contributed four assists and a team-high four steals, while Hannah Coley tied for the team lead with four assists to go with her five points.

Sara Villanueva led all scorers with 23 points for the Pioneers, hitting 9-12 from the field. Kristina Williams had 15 points and nine rebounds, while Katie Anderson finished with 14 points off the bench. Tayler Wang had 11 rebounds and six assists to lead all players.

Head coach Cameron Hill led the Tigers to the most wins ever for a rookie head coach with 23, and the team's 17-game winning streak was tied for the longest in school history. Trinity also won just its fourth overall Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship to earn the automatic berth to the NCAA Playoffs.
