KAREN RAMIREZ
OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a junior shortstop from
Waco, Texas has been selected the SCAC Softball Offensive
Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 11 through
Sunday, March 17.
Ramirez hit .500 in six games (8-16) during the
Pirates’ spring break trip to Tucson, Ariz. She drove in six
runs, scored eight runs and totaled four extra base hits (two
doubles, triple, and homerun) to help the Pirates to a 6-0 mark in
Arizona and extend Southwestern’s winning streak to nine
games.
Ramirez had an on-base percentage of.619 and
a .938 slugging percentage in the six games to tally a 1.557 OPS
(on base + slugging).
Against Marian (Wis.) on March 13, Ramirez was 3-3 with five RBI, two runs, a triple and a homerun.
