CAITLYNN DYKES
OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore catcher from
Port Neches, Texas has been selected the SCAC Softball Offensive
Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, February 25
through Sunday, March 3.
Dykes led the Tigers to a doubleheader sweep of
Schreiner University on Wednesday, scoring two wins in the
team’s first home games of the season.
Dykes hit .600 (3-5) in the two games, scoring two runs and driving in six for the Tigers. She hit home runs in both games on Wednesday, and held a slugging percentage of 1.800 for the doubleheader.
With the Tigers trailing in game one, Dykes
crushed a three-run bomb to cap a four-run inning that put the
Tigers up 6-4. She cracked a two-run shot in the first inning to
set the tone for game two.
For the season, Dykes is hitting .259 (7-27) with five runs scored and a team-leading eight RBI. This week marked her first home runs of the season.
