LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Schreiner University and Southwestern University both solidified their seeding for the conference tournament in SCAC Week 10 softball action.
Schreiner completed conference play with a 13-7 league mark (22-11-1 overall) and sits comfortably in second place in the standings after a four-game home sweep of the University of Dallas on Saturday and Sunday. The Mountaineers earmed 8-5 and 13-0 victories on Saturday and followed that up with 11-3 and 8-3 victories on Senior Day in Kerrville on Sunday.
Southwestern went on the road to knock off Trinity three times in four games and is in third place with a 6-6 league mark (17-10 overall). The Pirates swept Saturday's action, 7-0 and 8-4, before splitting with the Tigers on Sunday.
After dropping Sunday's opener, 5-1, Southwestern came out red-hot to start game two, plating three runs in the first, six in the second and five in the third en route to the 14-0 run-rule shortened victory. Sophomore Nadia Netek was outstanding on the mound, giving up just three hits in the complete game shutout.
In the only other conference squad in action, Centenary picked up a couple of one-run non-conference victories on Wednesday, defeating Texas A&M-Texarkana, 8-7 and 4-3.
