IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas announced on Friday the hiring of Caitlynn Dykes as the next softball head coach. The seventh coach to be named at the helm for the program begins on July 16th.
Dykes spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach for Susquehanna University. The River Hawks posted a combined 56-32 overall record. This included the team notching 19 wins and five losses during conference play against teams in the Landmark. She was part of a staff that helped guide Susquehanna to a 2017 Landmark Championship and 10-2 mark in league play that season.
In 2018, the River Hawks were a Landmark Conference Semi-Finalist.
Dykes is familiar with the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), having played four years with Trinity University from 2012-15. In 2016, she remained with the Tigers as a Student Assistant Coach as she completed her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Management concentration.
Dykes garnered numerous postseason achievements at the national and conference level while she caught with Trinity. In 2012, she charged onto the collegiate scene with SCAC Newcomer and Player of the Year awards. Dykes was named to the All-West Region Team in 2012, 2014, and 2015 as a catcher. She was a four-time All-SCAC Team Selection, highlighted by All-SCAC First Team as a catcher in 2014 and Second-Team in 2015. She qualified all four years on the SCAC All-Tournament Team.
Dykes holds the Trinity record in home runs (15) and single-season RBIs (42). She batted a career batting of .377. During her time at Trinity, Dykes was also a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Dykes was a National Fastpitch Coaches Association Mary Nutter Scholarship Recipient in September, 2017.
