LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Week five of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference saw three teams in action last weekend.
Johnson & Wales competed at the New Mexico Highlands Cross Country Jam where it took home its first team win as members of the SCAC. The Wildcats were paced by senior Alberto Rodriguez who led the pack after completing the 8K in 27:12. Also placing within the top ten for Johnson & Wales were junior Bryce Moore (28:02) and freshman Cody Lane (30:05) who finished second and seventh respectively.
Colorado College sent one runner to New Mexico Highlands where junior Adam Mahler ran a 28:12, good enough for a third place finish. CC sent the bulk of their squad to the Charles Bowles Invitational 8K where the Tigers placed tenth out of 19 squads. Junior Tony Calderon was the top runner for CC placing 31st in 25:36.2.
Texas Lutheran placed fifth at the Concordia University Texas Invitational. The Bullldogs were led by freshman Cassius Serff-Roberts who placed 15th after completing the 8K course in 30:14.83.
The men's cross country season continues next weekend highlighted by Schreiner, Southwestern, Texas Lutheran and Trinity who are set to race at the University of Incarnate Word Invitational.
