LAURENCE WYKE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a freshman midfielder from San Antonio, Texas has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for matches played from Monday, October 5th through Sunday, October 11th.
Facing off against the top two teams in the standings, Wyke led Trinity to a pair of SCAC victories at home over the weekend, posting shutouts against both Dallas and Colorado College.
Wyke and the Tiger defense allowed 27 shots over the two games, but only eight shots on goal, and zero goals to move Trinity into the number two spot in the SCAC standings. Trinity has now recorded six consecutive shutouts, as well as 10 shutouts overall this season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior defender Charlie Berndt of Southwestern University logged one assist and one shot from the backline of the Pirates as Southwestern went 2-0 at home this week. Sophomore goalkeeper Theo Hooker of Colorado College made a career-high nine saves that kept the game scoreless and gave the visiting Tigers a chance to claim a victory in extra time.
