TOM CARWILE OF
TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore defender from
Tulsa, Okla., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Soccer
Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday,
October 28th through Sunday, November 3rd.
Carwile led the Tigers to a 1-0 shutout of
Southwestern University on Friday night, clinching the top seed at
next weekend’s SCAC Tournament.
In addition to leading a defense that posted its seventh
consecutive shutout against Division III opponents,
Carwile also knocked in the game’s only goal
for his third game-winner of the season. He scored the goal
on a corner kick in the 24th minute of action, then led a defense
that allowed just two shots in the second half to secure the
win.
For the season, Carwile has now scored seven goals
for the Tigers – three of which have been game-winners.
He has also led a Trinity defense that has allowed just two
goals over the last 14 games – and only one score against
Division III teams.
