JONATHAN
MICHAEL OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore
goalkeeper from Coppell, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's
Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday,
August 29 through Sunday, August 31.
Michael was excellent in the Bulldogs' first two games of the 2013
campaign. The sophomore keeper gave up one goal while making 13
saves (.929 save pct.) while helping his team to two wins.
In the season opener against LeTourneau, Michael was arguably
the Bulldogs' most important player after being called upon to make
10 saves against a persistent LeTourneau attack. In Monday's 1-0
win over Hardin-Simmons, Michael recorded his first shutout and
stopped a penalty kick in the 24th minute to keep the game
scoreless.
