KRISTI
ELLIS OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a
senior from Petoskey, Mich., has been selected the SCAC Character
& Community Female Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week
ending June 1, 2014.
Ellis has been a tremendous representative of Texas Lutheran both
athletically and in the community. The track and field star won the
high jump, finished second in the triple jump and was third in the
javelin to earn all-conference honors in all three events at the
2014 SCAC Track & Field Championships. She was also fifth in
the long jump.
Away from the track, Ellis has served both the campus and Seguin
community through participation in TLU's Dog Days, a campus-wide
community service initiative.
Along with her work in Dog Days, Ellis also helped provide food for
the hungry though TLU's Empty Bowls program. The program originates
through TLU's ceramics department. She has also served the
Guadalupe Valley Family Violence Shelter during her time at
TLU.
Along with her impressive community contributions, she also served
as the TLU representative in the SCAC 8-in-8 tour this year.
