HANNAH COLEY OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior guard on the women's basketball team, has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Female Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending February 2, 2014.

The SCAC honors and recognizes the efforts of extraordinary student-athletes who excel in their sport, and also serve their campus and community.

Coley fits the bill in both instances.

The 5-foot-7 Coley has earned All-SCAC honors over the past two seasons. She made the All-SCAC Second Team last year, and the Third Team tn 2012. A team captain, Coley has started all 20 games for the 16-4 Tigers this season. She averages 15.5 points per game, and has shelled out 69 total assists (3.5 per game). An effective shooter, Coley has registered a .453mark from the field, and .333 in 3-point range.

In the classroom, Coley is working on a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration (accounting and economics), and maintains a cumulative grade point average of 3.77. She has made Trinity’s Dean’s List for four semesters. Last summer, Coley attended the Danish Institute for Study Abroad.

Coley was nominated last month for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association and National Association of Basketball Coaches Good Works Team.

She is a member of Trinity’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leadership Team, and is the secretary for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Coley has organized a number of fundraisers, including an event which raised nearly $20,000 in the battle against breast cancer.

Among her activities, Coley has volunteered with the San Antonio Metropolitan Ministries.

The defending conference champion Tigers return to action Friday, February 7, by traveling to Centenary College in a SCAC game at 8:00 p.m. Trinity will then take on Austin College in an SCAC matchup at 6:00 p.m. Saturday.
