Justin Campbell, Trinity University, Men's Track & Field

JUSTIN CAMPBELL OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior on the the Tigers' men's track and field team from Victoria, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Male Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending April 28, 2013.

Campbell, who is seeking his B.S. degree in International Business and B.A. degrees in International Studies (East Asia Concentration) and Chinese, participated in Trinity’s Study Abroad program in Beijing, China in the Spring of 2011, then returned for an internship in Shanghai this past summer. Campbell interned with Ambassador Sichan Siv in San Antonio last year, which led to an internship at The Pudong Institute for the U.S. Economy in Shanghai over the summer.

Over his career, Campbell has played both football and track & field. He helped the Tigers to a football conference title in 2011, as well as a track & field championship in 2009. This spring, Campbell led Trinity’s track & field team to its first SCAC Championship since 2009, winning three events at this year’s SCAC Meet. He is a five-time SCAC Champion in track & field, winning the discus in 2009, 2010, and 2013. In 2009, Campbell earned All-American honors by finishing third at the NCAA Championships in the discus, and was also named to the All-Academic Team released by the USTFCCCA.

Campbell is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Golden Key International Honor Society, as well as earning a spot on the Trinity Dean’s List over three different semesters. Additionally, he was the 2011 recipient of the James A. Read Academic Achievement Award, and this past fall, was a speaker at the Trinity University International Business Symposium. Campball has also been an active member of the National Honor Society since coming to Trinity in the Fall of 2008.
