BRADY KENT OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior on the men's track and field squad, has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Male Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending March 24, 2013.

Kent has amassed quite an impressive resume in his four years at Southwestern. A Brown, Paideia and National Merit Scholar, Kent was selected as Overall Student Leader-of-the-Year this past May when he served as President of the Southwestern University Student Congress, and in March, he was named Political Science Student-of-the-Year.

He is a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society and serves as President of Pi Sigma Alpha - a Political Science Honor Society. He has made Dean's List six times while at Southwestern and currently carries a 3.86 GPA.

Most recently, Kent served as the only student representative on the Southwestern University Presidential Search Committee.

Off campus, Kent is currently serving as a legislative intern in the Texas House of Representatives for Rep. Drew Darby. Last summer, he was in Washington, D.C., where he served as an analyst intern for the Office of Allowances in the U.S. State Department.

Kent has also been active as a volunteer, serving as a mentor in the Southwestern University Upward Bound program. In this capacity, Kent helped academically mentor (one-on-one) a low-income high school student twice a week. He currently serves as a mentor in the Georgetown Independent School District "Partners in Education" program. In this program, Kent serves as an academic mentor for three elementary school students in math and reading after school two days a week.
