ELIZABETH
SIGAFOOSE OF MILLSAPS COLLEGE, a Biology major with
a double minor in Chemistry and Psychology from Long Beach, Miss.,
has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Male
Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending March 11, 2012.
A junior guard on the women's baskeball, team,
Sigafoose has been a Dean and President Scholar
and on the SCAC academic honor roll selection. A member of Tri
Beta, the Biology Honorary; Alpha Epsilon Delta, the Pre-Health
Honorary; and a member of the Psychology Club, she is the
women’s basketball representative on the Student Athlete
Advisory Committee and has participated in the Fellowship of
Christian Athletes.
Sigafoose volunteers at several local hospitals
and medical centers, including the University Medical Center at the
Wiser Hospital for Women and Infants, where she cares for newborns,
and Mission First which is a non-profit medical clinic serving the
Jackson community. She recently started volunteer work at the
Methodist Specialty Care Center, where she help disabled residents
with day to day activities.
Sigafoose has also volunteered at the Mississippi
Basketball Association’s after-school program for
children. In this program, the children learn how to play
basketball and receive help with their homework from staff members.
She also maintain a part-time job working in the Hall Activities
Center and is currently playing in her third year for the Millsaps
basketball team.
