LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Five of the league's seven Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women's cross country teams were in action this past week.

Competing as the only Division III team in the entire field, the Colorado College women's cross country team ran to an impressive fifth-place finish at the Fort Hays State Tiger Open in Victoria, Kansas.
 
With several of the nation's top Division II programs in attendance, the Tigers scored 142 points and beat five Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams, Colorado Christian, Fort Lewis, Nebraska Kearney, South Dakota Mines and Chadron State. 

Senior Leah Wessler paced the team for the fourth time this season by finishing 18th with a 5K time of 17 minutes, 39.5 seconds. Freshman Jerrica Bauer continued her impressive inaugural campaign by finishing second on the team and 32nd overall with a time of 18:05.8.

Three SCAC teams competed at the University of the Incarnate Word Invitational, although Trinity was the only one of the three that fielded enough runners to score. The Tigers finished fourth among the non-Division I competition as three runners finished in the top 11. Freshman Brianna Ratliff paced the Tigers with a 13th-place finish as she covered the 6K course in a time of 24:23.

Junior Brianna Timourian led the Pirates with a time of 25:43.1, which was good for 28th place, and freshman Jessica Gaines paced Schreiner with a finishing time of 26:48.4 which was good for 36th place.

Dallas finished in fifth place out of 10 teams on Saturday at the University of Ozarks Invitational. The Crusaders posted 132 points.

Sophomore Bridget Kennedy, for the third consecutive 5K race run by the team, led the way for Dallas with a 13th-place individual finish with a time of 20:42.

The Texas Lutheran women were scheduled to run at the Disney Cross Country Classic in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., but the event was cancelled due to Hurricane Matthew.
