Trinity's Hagmann, Peterson Selected as SCAC Female Swimmer and Diver of the Year

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Trinity University's Lindsay Hagmann and Christine Peterson were named the league's female Swimmer and Diver-of-the-Year, respectively, based on exclusive voting by the head coaches of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. 2018 All-SCAC Women's Swim/Dive Team

A senior from Baton Rouge, La., and winner of SCAC Swimmer-of-the-Year honors for the second consecutive year, Hagmann was pivotal in Trinity’s team success this year. At the SCAC championships, she won the 50 and 100 free individually and took runner-up in the 100 breast. The victory in the 50 free was her second consecutive win at the conference meet and the win in the 100 was her third straight - making her just the third swimmer in league history to win that event three consecutive years.

She also played a key role in the women’s relay success at the conference championship meet; notably posting a 29.3 breaststroke split in the medley relay and a 22.7 on the 200 free relay. The Tigers went on to win their record 15th consecutive women's swimming and divng team title.

Following the conference meet, Hagmann qualified for the NCAA Division III national championships where she achieved all-America status in the 50 free in a new conference open record 23.16 and honorable mention in the 100 free. Her role on relays helped Trinity gain honorable mention all-America honors in the 200 free relay (splitting a time of 22.6) and break the conference open record in the 400 free relay with a 50.3 swim from Hagmann.

Trinity's Peterson, a senior from Farmington Hills, Mich., competed at the NCAA Zone diving championship for the fourth consecutive season, qualifying for the NCAA national championship for the first time in her career where she finished 26th nationally on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.

Peterson was named the SCAC Diver-of-the-Meet after winning both boards at the 2018 SCAC championships, and also earned the SCAC Diver-of-the-Week honors three times during the regular season.

In balloting that took place following the conference championship meet, the Trinity University staff - led by first-year head coach Scott Trompeter, along with head diving coach Stan Randall, assistant coach John Ryan and assistant coach Kimberly Jones - earned SCAC Women's Coaching Staff-of-the-Year honors. It was fourth consecutive year the program had been so honored and 10th time overall.
