LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Two teams secured their spots in the 2017 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament as league play continued this week.
Trinity University and the University of Dallas each punched their tickets to the conference tournament this weekend. The Tigers (12-1, 8-1 SCAC) swept their competition this weekend and avenged their only loss of the season with a 3-2 overtime win on the road. Trinity lost to Dallas earlier in the season in a similar fashion, falling 3-2 at home in overtime.
Trinity then traveled to Colorado College for Sunday's contest, taking down CC 1-0 in a defensive battle.
Dallas (7-2-2, 6-1-2 SCAC) rebounded from the loss on Friday night to defeat Schreiner University 4-1 on Sunday. Colorado College (8-3-2, 6-2-1 SCAC) also earned a win over the Mountaineers this weekend, defeating the visiting team 2-0 Friday night.
Texas Lutheran University (4-7-2, 3-5-1 SCAC) had a successful weekend, earning a pair of wins over Centenary College and Austin College. The Bulldogs moved into fifth place in the league standings with 10 points.
Austin College (6-4-3, 4-3-2 SCAC) went 1-1 for the week, defeating Southwestern University on Friday night to remain fourth in the standings with 14 points.
Southwestern (4-6-3, 2-4-3 SCAC) posted a big win over Centenary on Sunday, taking down the Gents 4-0 at home. The Pirates currently sit in sixht place with nine points.
Centenary (2-9-2, 1-7-1 SCAC) and Schreiner (2-9-2, 0-7-2 SCAC) remain in seventh and eighth place, respectively.
