SCAC Women's Basketball Recap - Week 2

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Seven of the league's nine women's basketball squads were in action this past week with three teams making their 2018-19 debuts.

Trinity began its season on Monday with a 91-73 home victory against Concordia (Texas), and then remained perfect it its first week of play with weekend victories at the McArthur Classic over Pacific Lutheran (66-57) and the host school Puget Sound (57-55). Junior forward Abby Holland posted back-to-back 22-point performances to average 19.0 points-per-game for Trinity while sophomore guard Jordan Rudd secured 15 rebounds over the three-game stretch. 

Austin College extended its winning streak to three in the new season adding victories over Millsaps (77-59) and Hendrix (65-54) at the SCAC/SAA Challenge on the campus of Hendrx. The Roos' were led by senior forward Bryce Frank who averaged 15.5 points-per-game and 8.5 rebounds-per-game. Senior guard Ann Savage also posted a 21-point performance against Millsaps.

Colorado College opened its season with a 67-53 win over Occidental on Friday. For the Tigers, sophomore classmates Jade Odom and McKenzee Gertz posted impressive performances with Odom collecting 20 points and nine rebounds and Gertz adding 18 points and eight rebounds. Junior guard Nia Duplain had a double-double in the win with 15 points and 11 rebounds. On Saturday, the Tigers fell to Whittier, 55-43.

Texas Lutheran battled to a 53-50 ovetime victory over LeTourneau at the SCAC/ASC Challenge at East Texas Baptist on Saturday. In the win, senior guard Cami Davis scored 15 points and added four rebouds. The Bulldogs were defeated by the host school, ETBU, by a 71-52 score on Friday night. 

The women's basketball schedule continues on Tuesday when Colorado College, Schreiner, Texas Lutheran and Trinity all take the floor in non-conference play.
