SCAC Women's Basketball Recap - Week 10

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- As the season enters its final weeks, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball standings continue to shuffle with Austin College (15-3, 8-1) reclaiming the top slot. 

Texas Lutheran (12-7, 8-2) downed then conference leader Trinity 77-66 on Saturday. The Bulldogs were led by sophomore guard Tara Molina who exploded for the league's only triple-double performance of the season with 13 points, 10 assists and 12 rebounds in the contest. Molina’s 10 assists is the most by any player in a single game this season. Junior guard Dominque Campos and freshman forward Abby Hroch also chipped in 14 and 13 points, respectively. Earlier in the week, Trinity (15-4, 8-2) topped Southwestern (7-11, 6-3), 80-53. Junior forward Abby Holland paced the Tigers with 21 points and five rebounds while freshman teammate Hailey Coleman contributed 18 points and seven rebounds. 

With Trinity's loss, the Roos' moved into first place in the standings after defeating conference opponents Centenary and Schreiner (3-15, 3-6). Senior forward Bryce Frank collected 26.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game and sophomore guard Kacie West added 13.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game over the two-game stretch.

Johnson & Wales (2-15, 1-10) picked up its first two wins this season, earning victories over Dallas (1-17, 1-9) and non-conference opponent Dallas Christian over the weekend. Freshman guard Katey Guzman had a pair of 24-point performances to lead the Wildcats. Classmate Brianna Bailey also had an impressive week averaging 19.5 points and 3.0 assists per game.

Colorado College (9-10, 6-5) earned its victory last week against Dallas. The Tigers were led by sophomore guard McKenzee Gertz who posted 26 points and eight rebounds. CC also saw contributions from sophomore guard Jade Odom who picked up 12 points, eight rebounds and four assists and senior guard Casey Torbet who added 11 points and five rebounds. 

Centenary (5-13, 3-6) bounced back from its loss earlier in the week to edge Schreiner 56-50 on Sunday. Several Ladies earned double-digit point totals including senior guard Savanah Doty who led all scorers with 15 points. Senior guard Jasmine Morris and sophomore forward Bre Frierson also chipped in 11 points each. 

SCAC women's basketball continues on Tuesday when Trinity plays host to Schreiner and Dallas heads to Austin College.
