SCAC Women's Cross Country Recap - Week One

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - All seven of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference cross country teams opened their 2017 campaigns this past weekend. 

A notable finish from Southwestern's Sofia Garcia finished second in the Pirate Opener with a 5k time of 21:45:02. The Pirates also took first of two in the invite against Concordia University.

Colorado College's Alyssa Warling finished fourth with a time of 19:01.5 in the 5k at the Colorado/Colorado Springs Rust Buster Meet. The Tigers finished fourth of five teams.

Austin College and the University of Dallas competed against each other and other Texas schools at the UT-Tyler King Campbell Sepctacular. UD's Emma Callahan and Clare Hernandez took second and fourth, respectively, in the two mile race. Austin's top two performers placed seventh and eighth. 

The Trinity Tigers and Texas Lutheran Bulldogs raced against each other at the Alamo City Classic. Trinity's Laura Taylor broke her personal record at 18:25.6 for the 5k race. The Tigers earned first place and the Bulldogs placed second.
