Glenna Yancey, Colorado College, Co-Defensive Player of the Week (Week 9)

GLENNA YANCEY OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a senior middle hitter from Greenwood Village, Colo., has been named SCAC Volleyball Co-Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, Oct. 27 through Saturday, Oct. 28.

She shares the award this week with Rebekah Bowden of Austin College.

Yancey was voted to the all-tournament team at the Spike It Up Classic after playing in two of three matches.

Yancey tied her season high with six total blocks in the sweep of Cornell, which was receiving votes in the most recent AVCA poll. After resting against Johnson & Wales in Saturday's first match, she came back to hit .556 with 10 kills on 17 attacks in the three-set win over Howard Payne. She also had a pair of solo blocks. In her two matches, CC's opponents posted a combined .024 hitting percentage.

Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
Senior middle blocker Rebekah Bowden of Austin College reached a milestone, surpassing 500 career total blocks after totaling seven blocks - including three solo - in a win over Arlington Baptist. Junior setter Megan Grimes of Southwestern University averaged 3.63 digs per set and half a block per set in two matches this week as SU went 2-0. Sophomore setter Jaci Chambers of Texas Lutheran University picked up 33 digs this weekend at the Tiger Invitational and tallied 5.33 d/s. In the match against Concordia. Junior setter Amelia Roden of Trinity University finished with 34 digs in 12 sets played, averaging 2.83 digs/set in the three victories at the Tiger Invitational.
