REBEKAH BOWDEN OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a senior middle blocker from Flint, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, September 8th through Sunday, September 10th.
Bowden had an impressive weekend at the net as the 'Roos went 4-0, averaging 2.0 blocks per set and totaling 28 blocks in four matches.
Bowden had a weekend-high 11 blocks in a 3-2 win over Occidental, and also added 1.79 kills-per-set with a .277 hitting percentage for the weekend.
Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
Senior middle blocker Kelsey Hamrick of Texas Lutheran University had 14 total blocks during a 2-2 tournament run at the UT-Tyler Patriot classic. Senior middle blocker Rebecca Hayes of Trinity University led the Tigers to a 3-1 record over the weekend and became the 13th player in school history to reach 300 blocks in a career. Sophomore Brittany Hohlt of Southwestern University averaged 1.18 blocks per set and led the Pirates with 13 blocks assists on the weekend.
