Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year middle blocker Rebekah
Bowden of Austin
College had
perhaps the best weekend of her freshman season. In three
conference matches, she totaled 20 blocks for an average of 1.82
blocks per set and added 1.64 kills per set and a .333 hitting
percentage. Bowden had at least five total blocks in all three
matches as the 'Roos went 1-2 at the second SCAC Group B
Divisional. Sophomore outside hitter Jessie
Koster of Dallas was instrumental
in a 2-1 weekend for the Crusaders, boasting 36 digs in an
exciting, 3-2, victory over Austin College. The libero added 11
digs in a sweep over Centenary College of Louisiana on Friday, and
also recorded 12 in a 3-0 setback to No. 10 Colorado College. The
sophomore did break the 400-dig mark on the campaign, and currently
has 403 to lead the squad. Sophomore middle blocker Kirby
Kincannon of Southwestern has 12 blocks over 11 sets of
action, averaging 1.09 per set as the Pirates finished 2-1 at the
second SCAC Group A Divisional. She had six blocks in Saturday's
3-0 sweep of Texas Lutheran. The sophomore also pitched in
offensively with 26 kills. First-year middle blocker
Rebecca Hayes of Trinity led the Tigers' defensive
efforts during a 4-0 week of play, which included three wins at
this weekend’s SCAC Group A Divisional Tournament. Hayes
tallied 16 total blocks in the four matches, averaging 1.33
blocks/set to lead the Tigers. Her blocking average for the week is
nearly double her average of 0.71 for the season. In three of the
four matches over the weekend, she recorded season-best totals in
blocks, leading the team in each of the three contests. Her six
blocks against Southwestern are her
career-best. Centenary, Schreiner and
Texas Lutheran did
not nominate anyone for the award.
