ANDRONIKI DEFTERAIOU OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior from Athens, Greece, has been named the SCAC Field Athlete of the Week for meets held through Sunday, April 7th.
Defteraiou competed in her first women’s heptathlon and tied for first place in the Blue section at the David Noble Relays last week. Defteraiou completed the seven events with a score of 3,967 to tie for the top spot in a field of NCAA Division I and II athletes at Angelo State University. She won the long jump competition with a mark of 5.07 meters and placed second in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in a personal-best time of 15.48 seconds.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman Mabel Gardner of Colorado College finished 15th in the pole vault last weekend in a field compiled of athletes across all divisions at the University of Colorado Invitational. Gardner cleared 9.60 meters which is currently the fourth best mark in the SCAC.
