MABEL FOWLER OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior from Uvalde, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week for performances during meets swam Monday, November 18 to Sunday, November 24.
Fowler started off strong at the Tiger Invitational by leading the 200 free relay off with a best time of 24.52, which helped the Tigers win in a time 1:35.82. She went on to win the 500 free in a school-record time of 4:58.81 - narrowly missing the SCAC open record. On day two, Fowler won the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:52.62. On the third day, she turned in a second place 200 back with a time of 2:01.76, and she also led off the winning 400 free relay, achieving NCAA B cuts in both events.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year Rosie Wade of University of the Ozarks, in two weekend meets, posted wins in everything that she swam and broke eight school records in the process. Wade led off the winning 200 freestyle relay to a new team record. She then posted wins and school records in the 50 free (25.86), 200 free (2:03.22), 500 free (5:25.28), 1650 free (18:49.78), 50 back (30.06), 100 back (1:04.62) and 200 back (2:18.37) and the 100 IM (1:04.62). First-year Emma Frey of Southwestern placed second overall in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.84 and fourth place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.20. She also was the first leg in the 200-yard freestyle relay which won third place and the 400-yard freestyle relay which won second place.
