Chelsea Cole, Trinity University, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 4)

CHELSEA COLE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior forward from Texarkana, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played the week of Monday, September 17th to Sunday, September 23rd.

Cole led the Tiger women’s soccer team to an offensive outburst in a 9-0 win over Johnson & Wales on Sunday afternoon, which also marked Trinity’s 100th consecutive regular season SCAC victory. Cole picked up her second hat trick of the season with three goals and a pair of assists, contributing on more than half of the team’s scores in the game. 
 
Cole assisted on the eventual game-winner in the fourth minute of action, then added a goal of her own just 21 seconds later to put the Tigers up 2-0 after just 3:43 of game action. She scored or assisted on four of the team’s first five goals, then added her third goal of the afternoon less than four minutes into the second half. For the season, Cole leads the Tigers with nine goals and two assists for 20 total points.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman midfielder Hallie Rutherford of Southwestern was crucial in a pair of win last week for the Pirates. Rutherford scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in the victory against Centenary and assisted on the game-winning goal against Schreiner. Freshman midfielder Monique Sierra of Texas Lutheran scored twice and added an assist as the Bulldogs defeated Centenary, 5-0, to earn their first victory in league play.
