KYRA MONTES OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a junior forward from Shreveport, La., has been selected the SCAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played the week of Friday, August 31st to Sunday, September 2nd.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman forward Catalina Canizalez of Austin College opened her collegiate career with a spark, scoring a goal in each of her first two contests and led the Roos with nine shots over the weekend. Freshman forward Bekah Gonzalez of Dallas scored her first collegiate goal in last Saturday’s opener at La Verne to help the Crusaders secure a 1-1 draw on the road. Sophomore forward Maya Fuller of Southwestern scored a pair of goals in the Pirates, 4-2, victory against Concordia, marking the first time since October 2016 Southwestern has scored four or more goals in a single contest. Sophomore forward Raquel Morris of Texas Lutheran made a pair of starts last weekend, scoring the Bulldogs’ lone goal in their 1-1 draw against Mary Hardin-Baylor. Senior midfielder Chelsea Cole of Trinity netted the double-overtime game-winner against Puget Sound on Sunday afternoon, leading the Tigers to a 1-0-1 record to start the season.
