Miguel Vasquez, Centenary College, Swimmer of the Week (Week 4)

Miguel Vasquez of Centenary College, a freshman from Lafayette, La., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week for his performance during the week spanning Novmber 5th through November 11th.

Against Southwestern, Vasquez turned in the fastest finish in the 100 back by an SCAC swimmer so far this season after completing the race in 52.8. In the 200 IM, Vasquez finished in 2:02.2, the third fastest time in the SCAC. The first-year also finished his leg of the 200 medley relay in 24.33. 

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:

Junior Jacob Hurrell-Zitelmanm of Trinity swam 9:51.46 in the 1000 free which is the best performance in the SCAC so far this season as well 20th in the nation. At the Austin College Dual, freshman Joel Coppernoll of University of the Ozarks won the 50 free in 5:02.16. For Southwestern, senior Peter Robinson earned wins in the 200 free (1:46.09) and 500 free (4:52.34) against Ouachita Baptist and Rhodes as well as posting winning marks in the 100 back (57.32) and 100 free (48.95)in the Pirates’ dual with Centenary. Freshman Maximo Saenz of Austin College contributed victories in the 50 free (22.58) and 100 fly (53.5) in the Roos’ win over University of the Ozarks.
