Roman Cano, Trinity University, Defensive Player of the Week (Week 7)
ROMAN CANO OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior defender from Plano, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played the week of Monday, October 8th to Sunday, October 14th.

Cano led Trinity to a pair of SCAC victories last week, defeating Texas Lutheran and Dallas to remain atop the conference standings. Cano and the Tigers gave up just one goal in the two games, yielding just 17 total shots in the victories, and securing the team’s seventh shutout of the year against Dallas on Sunday.

In the win over Dallas, Cano scored the second goal of the game to put Trinity up 2-0 just after halftime, and also held Dallas scoreless to avenge the only loss of the season for the Tigers.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior goalkeeper Alan Carr of Southwestern collected nine saves in three games to help lead the Pirates to a 2-1 mark on the week that included a shutout victory against Schreiner. Senior goalie Brendan Soto of Texas Lutheran tallied 11 saves in last week’s action, averaging 3.67 saves per game to lead TLU to a 2-1 record. Against Colorado College, Soto made five saves, just one under his season-best of six saves in a match.
