MARK LAVERY OF OGLETHORPE UNIVERSITY, a senior defender from Woodstock, Ga., has been selected as the SCAC Men's Soccer Co-Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 5 through Sunday, September 11.
Lavery was outstanding for the Petrels all weekend long in protecting the back line in wins over Rowan and Methodist. The senior was instrumental in anchoring a defense that allowed just four shots on goal in two victories over the weekend including a 4-0 shutout against Rowan en route to claiming the 2011 Sonny Carter Invitational hosted by Emory University.
Lavery also scored a goal and dished an assist for three points and was named the Sonny Carter Invitational MVP for his exploits on the pitch.
