REDMOND LYONS OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior from San Francisco, Calif., has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week for competitions played through Tuesday, March 28th.
Lyons finished third at the West Cup in La Verne, Calif., finishing with a three-round score of 220 (7-over-par), and helping the team to a third-place finish at the event.
Lyons shot a 73 and 76 on the opening day of the tournament, then finished with an even-par score of 71 on Tuesday. He was just two strokes out of second, and three shots from tying for first place.
Trinity finished third as a team in the tournament, posting a three-round score of 906. The Tigers were seven shots behind Claremont for second place, and 14 shots from tournament host La Verne. After shooting identical 299 scores as a team in both rounds on Monday, Trinity was in the lead.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Colin Uecker of Texas Lutheran University took seventh in the West Cup, carding a 54-hole score of 223 (+10).
