KEENAN GUMBS OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a senior guard from Cibolo, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, February 4th.

Gumbs earned the honor for the third time this season after leading the Mountaineers to a pair of wins over the weekend that clinched their spot in the 2018 Men's Basketball Championship.

Gumbs averaged 26.5 points per game, inclduing 31 in the Mountaineers' two-point win over Texas Lutheran University. He shot just under 80% for the weekend, including a 10-of-11 performance against the Bulldogs.

Defensively, Gumbs pulled down 10.5 rebounds per game while grabbing one steal in each contest.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman guard Kam Hogan of Austin College had a strong weekend, averaging 15.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.5 steals-per-game while committing only two turnovers for an assist-to-turnover ratio of 4.5-to-1 in two games. Senior guard Travion Kirkendoll of Centenary College helped the Gents rally from a double-digit deficit in both games as Centenary clinches a SCAC Tournament berth. Senior guard Eric Houska of Colorado College helped the Tigers earn a split last week, averaging 18.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. Freshman forward Spencer Levi of the University of Dallas averaged 18.7 points highlighted by his game-high 23 points in Saturday's win at Austin College. Sophomore forward Brandon Alexander of Southwestern University averaged 15.3 points and five rebounds per game for the Pirates last week. Junior guard Nathan Josephs of Texas Lutheran University averaged 18.7 points, 5.0 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game over three contests last week. Sophomore forward Danny Rivara of Trinity University averaged 25.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in the two victories, shooting 21-37 (56.8%) from the field and 8-11 (72.7%) from the foul line.
