TYLER CAULEY OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior outfielder from Mont Belvieu, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Monday, April 1 through Sunday, April 7.
Cauley led TLU to a 3-1 week by hitting .444 (8-for-13) and driving in a team-high nine runs. Cauley was a consistent run producer for the Bulldogs, driving in three runs in each of the team’s three wins. Against No. 16 Concordia (Tex.), Cauley went 3-for-5 (.600) at the plate with a home run and three RBI. In the two wins against Southwestern, he had six RBI and was a combined 4-for-9.
Other Outstanding Performances:
Senior catcher Colby Schmidt of Southwestern averaged .545 at the plate (6-for-11) with four runs scored and two RBI in a 1-3 week for the Pirates. Trinity senior outfielder Jake Martin collected four RBI in four games for the Tigers, going 7-for-17 at the plate (.412) and slugging .647. Junior third baseman Nathan Patton went 3-for-7 at the dish (.429) while slugging 1.000 for Dallas in the team’s weekend series with Thomas More. Centenary junior Cody Crowder stole six bases for the Gents through four games, batting .333 (4-for-12) and scoring five runs.
