WILL CATES OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior outfielder from Houston, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Offensive Co-Player of the Week for games played Monday, March 21st through Sunday, March 27th.
Cates helped Southwestern to a series victory over Schreiner this past weekend. The senior center fielder hit .571 with three doubles, one triple, a homer and four RBIs. His 16 total bases translated to a 1.143 slugging percentage and he reached base at a .647 clip. Additionally, Cates was 5-for-5 in stolen bases, scored four times and was intentionally walked twice.
The Houston native finished a home run away from the cycle in Saturday's opening game of the doubleheader. He also stole four bases in the contest. In his first at-bat of the series finale, Cates led off the game with his first home run of the campaign to jump start the Pirates.

Junior catcher Zach San Roman of Dallas garnered a career-high five RBI game against Arlington Baptist College at QuikTrip Park last Wednesday. Junior outfielder Colby Schrade of Texas Lutheran had a pair of hits, scored two runs and hit .400 in a doubleheader split Friday at the University of Texas at Dallas. Sophomore infielder Sam Pistrui of Schreiner University helped lead the Mountaineers to a 1-2 weekend vs Southwestern.
